How can I view my profile on DesiMartini?
What can I do on DesiMartini? Friends/Chatting: You can search for friends to connect with them. You can make new friends. Chat with them online- either in the ‘online’ section, or you can chat only with your friends in the ‘online- my friends’ section. You can also do a one on one chat with friends. Fun: You can play games, read your daily horoscope, Photos/Videos: Upload, share and view photographs and videos. Go to the ‘videos’ and ‘photos’ section to see our top rated and featured videos. Polls: Ever had a burning question that you wanted to ask people. Create a poll- write the question, define the answers and watch the fun as people poll on your question. Blogs/Discussion Forums: Write and read blogs, comment on them, participate in discussion forums, How do I add friends on DesiMartini? You can search for your friends, click on their profile and click on the link ‘add as a friend’. This will send a friends request to them. Once they accept, you will be friends. You can also invite friends through your email contact book. You can do this by clicking on Search and then selecting your email service provider. Then you can enter your username and password for your email (we do not store this information) and DM will tell you which of your friends are already on DM and they can be added as your friends. You can also invite people who are not on DM to be your friends. Another way of adding people as friends is by looking at through your email contact books. Sending a request to be added as a friend doesn't automatically mean that they become your friends. Your friends have to accept your friend request. DM will send them an email invite informing them of your request. A little nudge from your side wouldn't hurt! There are several ways to add friends on DesiMartini. If want to add another user as a friend, you can go ahead and click on Add as friend on their profile (on the left side under their picture). Then, wait for them to accept your friendship request. What is a Ping? Ping is a message that you can leave for your friends, on their Pingdom. Anyone who views their profile will be able to see your message. To leave a ping on their Pingdom, click on ‘Leave a Ping’ at the top of their Pingdom, and type in the text box that appears. How can I send a Private Ping? To send a Private Ping, click on the user's profile. Under the user's profile picture, there is a link to 'send private ping'. Please click on the link to send a Private Ping. What is the difference between Pings and Private Pings? If a person is not your friend, you can only send them a private ping (by clicking on Send Private Ping on the left bar under the users picture). This will show up as a Private Ping for them when they login. If you are a friend of the person, you can leave them a friend message in two ways. You can Ping them on their profile or you can click on the Send Private Ping on the left bar under the users picture and leave them a message on that screen. Note that leaving Friend messages is akin to scrapping someone in Orkut. Only difference is that unlike Orkut, in DM only friends can send you scraps. Everyone else can only send you a private ping. How do I chat with people on DM? There are two ways to chat with people on DesiMartini. You can chat one on one with your friends on DM (as long as they are added as your friends) by clicking on the chat icon next to their name on your profile. The green icon shows that they are currently online and available for chat. When you click on the green button, it will open a pop-up window on your computer as well as your friend’s computer. For the pop-up to open, you should have pop-ups enabled on your browser for DesiMartini.com – you can do this by selecting allow pop-ups for desimartini.com when your browser asks you what you want to do for new pop-ups. Note that you will see the green online buttons symbolizing online status on other people’s profiles as well, which means that their friends are online, but you can't click on this button on another persons profile. You can only initiate a chat from your own profile by clicking on the chat icon that is different from the green icon button. The other way to chat with people is to use the public chat system. You can chat with people that are online by clicking on the online link on the header (top of the page). This will show you which people are online and also allows you to chat with them live. How do I complete my profile? You can complete your profile by clicking on the Edit Profile link on the left under your picture on your own profile. To fill out your interests and hobbies information, click on the More Info tab after clicking on Edit Profile. How do I upload and share pictures with friends? At DM, we value your privacy more than anything else. Which is why we let users upload pictures without giving access to the entire world. To upload pictures that only you (private), or only you and your friends (friends) can see, go to My Picture Albums on the left and select the Create New Album option from the dropdown menu for Albums. Choose the type for the new album (private, friends, or public). You can always change the settings for a particular album later by clicking on the Access: public / private / friends option next to the album. To upload multiple pictures at one time, use the Upload Multiple Pictures option on the right hand side when in the upload photos page. How do I hide my profile? We at DM value your privacy. Which is why we let you hide your profile from others if you wish to. You have two options. You can hide your profile from non-friends, i.e. only friends will be able to see your profile. Also, you can hide your profile from only non-registered members, i.e. only registered DM members would be able to see your profile. To activate this setting, click on My Privacy on the left sidebar on the page. How do I control my E-mail settings? You can choose to receive or not receive email alerts when certain actions take place on DM. To activate / de-activate email alerts, click on the My Privacy link on the left sidebar. How do I delete my account? You can delete your account by clicking on the Edit Profile link on your own profile. This will take you to a section where you can edit your profile information. To delete your account, click on the Delete Account tab, and click yes. How do I change the look of my profile? You can change the color and customize your profile! This will also be the color in which you see the entire website. You can choose between 10 color combinations. To select a color, you can click on any of the 10 square color buttons below your user picture. How do I use the videos feature? We do not let users upload their own videos, yet! However, you can browse through YouTube videos by clicking on the videos link in the top header. You can view YouTube videos without leaving DM. To search for YouTube videos, click on YouTube videos after clicking on videos on the header. To add a video to your profile, click on Add to Favorites on the right of the video after viewing it. Browsing through YouTube and like a video? Share it with your friends at DM! Simply copy the URL from the browser and paste it in the text box that comes on top of the screen after clicking on My Videos on the sidebar. I have forgotten my password - how do I login? Easy - just click on the forgot password link on the homepage of DM - this will take you to a page where you would need to enter the email address with which you registered. Your password will be mailed to you on that email address. What is DesiMartini's privacy policy? DesiMartini will not share your personal information including your email address, password, mobile number or any personal information with any third party under any circumstance. We have strict internal procedures to make sure nobody has access to your information. What is DesiMartini Betting? DesiMartini betting is like real betting except you play with points instead of real money. You will start off with 10,000 points and your goal is to maximize the number of points. When you win a bet, you will make money (points) and when you lose, you will lose money (points). What are Betting Odds? DesiMartini betting odds are like regular betting odds. They tell you how much money (points) you will make if you win your bet. For example, if the odds are 5:2 - you will make 5 bucks (points) for every 2 bucks (points) that you bet. So if you bet 2 bucks (points) and you win the bet, your total reaches 7 bucks (points) and if you lose the bet, your total will be 0 bucks (points). If the odds are 5:1, and you bet 1000 bucks (points) and you win the bet, you will win 5000 bucks (points), making your total 6000 bucks (points) and if you lose, you will lose 1000 bucks (points) and your total will be 0 bucks (points). How do I create a Poll? Click on Fun on the top navigation bar. Then, click on Polls. Once that page loads, click on the ‘Create Poll’ button. Enter your question and the options (up to 7 options). E.g.: Question- what is your fav day of the week? Option: Mon, Tue, Wed, Sat Then, click on the Create Poll button. To view your poll, click on ‘Polls’ and search for your poll. How do I join or create a group? To join a group, click on ‘groups’ in the top navigation bar. You can search for groups in the Featured Groups, or in Find Groups. Once you find the group, click on the group name. Once the group page opens up, click on ‘join group’ link on the top right side of the page. What is Status? Through status you can let your friends know what you’re doing right now and how you’re feeling. ‘in a movie’, ‘at work’, ‘dying to sleep’, ‘eating till I burst’, ‘playing with my kids’, ‘on a date’, ‘wanting to go on a date’, ‘feeling very happy’, ‘missing her’, etc You can update Status by clicking on the Change link below your picture, on your profile page. Type in the text box and hit the ‘Change’ button. How do I register my cellphone on DesiMartini? It's easy. Just click on "My Settings" in the left hand panel of your screen. Then click on "Change Phone Number" which will appear on the top panel. Just enter your mobile phone number, then click "Change phone number" to save your settings, and you're good to go!
