Bipasha Basu for the umpteenth time makes a comeback with a horror flick, playing the ghost & the ghost infected femme yet again! I wonder what the makers had in mind while making this film.
Alone is the story of Sanjana who is married to Kabir and is fed up of her marriage falling apart. Both head back to Kerala after getting the news of Sanjana's mother's hospitalization. Sanjana is afraid to face the memory of her conjoined sister Anjana who died after their operation. After returning to the house, Sanjana feels her sister's spirit haunting her while her husband is unable to believe these theories. What follows is a series of 'forced-ghost-sequences' and the Bollywood Horror clichés. You've seen them all. (Ref. Bhool Bhulaiya, Kartik Calling Kartik, Sheesha) Time and again.
Bipasha Basu has nothing new to offer in this double role. This genre by now is already her comfort zone. (Not sure if there is something to do with her real life as well! ) Karan Singh Grover makes the perfect Bollywood debut, with enough skin show, romantic songs and delivers a descent performance in his bit of acting.
Story, screenplay, VFX and the stupidity of characters is the biggest set back of the film.
The film is no where close to horrifying. It's all about laughing out loud! The story is drag with no head and tale to it. Mind you, the film has three some written all over.
Alone, best be left alone for it's mediocrity. Indian makers have quite some catching up to do on this genre.
There are better films to watch this weekend! Go check them.
