Clint Eastwood is quite the man, at this age, he's churning out films like a factory, but one wonders if he needs to slow down a bit. This time, he comes with ladies man Bradley Cooper & turns him into an intense armyman, one who has the distinction of most listed kills in US history. How does it turn out?

Its a good film but one that is miles away from his best.

Pros:

1. Phenomenal performance by Bradley Cooper, his best by far,

2. Some brilliant moments of moral decision making that make for the best scenes of the film.

3. Film moves from one killing to another, set piece by set piece but good fun.

Cons:

1. An abrupt finale that really sticks out like a sore thumb

2. Weak character build-up that really doesnt come together till the end

3. Emotionally, the film doesnt do what a story like this would warrant

4. Except for the bar scene, there arent too many scenes that help you connect with Kyle and his life. Sadly, with that not happening, the film just become a slick one-kill-after-another thriller.

All in all, if you go in expecting a wicked suspense-action thriller, you will be thoroughly disappointed. Go in expecting a sice of life film about a man who had to make some of the toughest emotional decisions and you will be fine. It is essentially Hurt Locker without the knockout punch.

In the Oscar run-up, this one doesnt stand a chance, except for an outside angle for Bradley Cooper.
