Let’s start off by establishing that spectacles are all you need to hide your identity. Just kidding, you gotta comb your hair as well. Zack Snyder has done a great job in connecting Man of Steel with Batman v Superman. The 2013 film had Superman’s perspective with a first hand experience of fighting with the antagonist General Zod. Batman V Superman on the other hand justified the title by shedding some light on the people who weren’t flying in the air. Bruce Wayne had the ground experience with buildings collapsing and people running for their lives. Hence, the hatred against Superman.
Batman v Superman was one of the most anticipated movies of this year, even though the year has just started, people were extremely hyped for the epic battle between the two most iconic heroes. Did it live up to the hype? Well, in most ways yes. Yes, it was action packed like it was expected to be. Yes, it introduced the upcoming Justice League and yes, Batman beat up Superman (Spoiler, not really). But there were some aspects that, in my opinion, could have been presented better. In no way was the movie bad or lacking in any aspect so it definitely joins the “must watch” list.
If you look at the movie as just Batman v Superman, you might not be completely fulfilled. There was something bigger playing out in the mind of Zack Snyder. The big picture was Batman, Superman and Wonder Woman coming together for the first time and taking on something that neither of them could have defeated alone. Yup, u guessed it, Doomsday! That monstrosity was the bomb! Literally!
Ben Affleck played the caped crusader, Bat of Gotham, the Dark Knight for the first time and in my opinion, he did a good job. He cannot be compared to Christian Bale’s Batman as in this case, the Dark Knight has aged a little, he is at the end of his rope. So thumbs up to Affleck for portraying just that. On the other hand, Henry Cavill has once again done a great job with his Superman. No doubts there.
This was the first time Wonder Woman was introduced. Played by Gal Gadot, I would say she did JUSTICE (see what I did there) to the character as well. Everybody had a crucial role to the plot which came together quite well. Lex Luthor on the other hand was quite different. May be that’s because I have always seen Lex as the serious type in the cartoons.
The fight between Batman and Superman was quite intense and the trailers only showed part of it, which is great! You might think, how can Batman fight Superman? And you might even know the answer as it seems to be quite clear but, lets not spill the beans on that one. Overall, the story was good, the acting was good, the action and CGI was great, the background score by Hans Zimmer was great! So adding it all up, Batman v Superman was great. Completely engrossing and entertaining and sure to give you your money’s worth.
