Verdict: An out of order script, flawed direction and too many clichés make the film uninteresting. The only saving grace was the music but even that doesn't help because of its weird placement. Blood Money is a waste of money!

Internal bias: I like Kunal Khemu since he was a child star in Hum hain raahi pyar me and Zakhm. I find him cute for one and also think he is a good actor

With such a bias to begin with, I was determined to view Blood Money with a less critical eye. Alas, even my kinder gentler self had to submit to the usual Bollywood syndrome of movies falling apart after the interval and ending either in an unexplained mess or a hastily contrived finale.

Kunal is a young man from a modest background but with big dreams. He arrives in Cape Town with his sweet innocent wife to work in a diamond firm. He quickly ascends to the top and finds out that the company is engaged in all sorts of shady deals. His greed for money makes him forsake his principles and agree to do the dirty work for his boss. In his own words he sells his soul.

At this point we have reached the interval. The next half has a lot to get through. He has to do some dirty deals to realise the depth of his boss'villany, make it up to his wife whom he has betrayed and let down and bring the bad guys down. All this in the second half of the second half. Which means a lot of sudden leaps of imagination and 'yeh kya ho raha hai' moments on screen before it all winds down.

I know a lot of people had issues with the way the story unfolds in Kahaani. Well, watch this one to see what the phrase 'lapses of logic' really means.

Kunal Khemu at least did not disappoint me. He portrays the middle class guy caught in a bad dream with sincerity and intensity. Amrita Puri as his wife was better as the ditzy small town girl in Aisha. She looks very cute and innocent but is too soppy to make you sympathise with her.

Blood money starts out well and kind of trots along till the interval after which you start despairing. The good part is its short and fast paced so you don't feel like you have wasted too much time or anything. Plus, you get to see a it of Cape Town, in case you are making vacation plans. A strictly ok watch.
