Its been two weeks since I saw Blue. The film has gone on to become a big hit. My disappointment with the movie though, has not abated yet. I had huge expectations from the movie and it bombed big time as far as I am concerned. Everything looked promising in the promos. Akki back in an action role, stunts, underwater adventure, background music. I don't know how it all failed so miserably. I am gonna keep this one short as there is not too much to write about

Akki is an owner of a shipping company and Sanju is his friend cum employee. Sanju has knowledge of a hidden treasure which is apparently worth millions. Zayed is a good for nothing kid who owes money to a local don and lands up at Sanju's place to seek refuge. The trio decide to search the treasure and solve Zayed's problems.

The suspense build up is pathetic and you know from the onset what to expect. One would have expected something like Nicholas Cage's National Treasure wherein there are several clues before unraveling the mystery.

I feel the story idea was a good one but the screenplay was very poor. They should have built up better scenes and better dialogs. There are only 2 scenes which are good in the movie. One being a bike chase and the other an underwater sequence.

Music is okayish. Below par by Rahman's standards. I have taken a liking to Aaj Dil Gustakh hai and the Blue theme though.

Akshay is okay but the role was not written well enough. Sanjay Dutt looks horrible and only God knows how someone as unfit as him can be a diver. Zayed is irritating as hell. My sincere plea to directors, please do not cast him! Lara has no other part in the movie other than bikini modeling. She it pulls it off amazingly and the lyrics of "Aaj Dil Gustakh hai, Paaniyo mei aag hai" seem apt when she is on the screen.

Anthony D'Souza needs to learn a lot. I have heard the team has decided to come up with a sequel called "Aasman". I hope he does not repeat his mistakes in future and does not leave the audience bruised up black and 'blue'.view less

You have a producer who can spend. Thus you hire an ensemble of stars, international cinematographers, shoot at the most exotic locations, buy music from an Oscar-winner and in the mean time you lost the thread of your own plot. I mean dude, wheres the script? Whats up with the screenplay?

This is all is Blue. The actors seem to be very excited with their new toys ( Yes, Zayed gets to ride a Ducati)They race along the streets of Bangkok & along the coastline of the Bahamas and lose themselves in the middle (I guess!)

Blue suffers from weak-scripting, under-average performance by A-List actors and most of all very poor dialogues. It actually looks like a group of wannabes ve won a all-expense paid holiday package while buying the local grocery.

Zayed Khan plays a super stud-rider all with long hair and would finish your job in half the time than normal. Yes hes that fast. He enters with attitude levels sky high and says dialogues like Call me Sam. We also get a glimpse of a chin-studded, over-clothed Katrina Kaif who does a Fast and the Furious and our stud rider instantly falls for her (Dinner he exclaims and grabs a date , remember hes fast) But he messes up with the Bangkok mafia ( I like his sthyle..) says our very own Rahul Dev who pretends to shoot and bikes explode.

So stud rider is force to abandon Bangkok , vanishes from there and pops up at Bahamas 3 mins later. He recalls a bhaiya and enter Sanjay Dutt who hugs and kisses, shouts at him like a child who has stolen a pack of chocolates and then doesnt bother how he was born. He is gusty, looks haggard & has found the love of his life in a skimpy-dressed Lara Dutta.The background given to the movie of a a ship returning to India-with-a-treasure-sinks but the treasure persists raises little excitement or curiosity. But Aarav (Akshay kumar) is super excited and curious. He plays (what?) some super-rich guy , has a huge villa, hangs round at his boxing ring and says dialogues like ( trust me when I say a girl is hot) Aarav keeps giving gifts like a Ducati very casually and would hitch-hike himself home with a pair of hot girls .Yes, he has everything in pairs like plan A fails so a Plan B (oops , thats the suspense) but unfortunately Aarav doesnt have 50 million $ liquid cash as suddenly at the tiny land Bangkok mafia pops up with a gang of goons picked from Nagpada and threatens the star-rider (remember he messed up). Unsuccesfull, they kidnap a yelling Lara Dutta while you make faces and constantly wait for this Blue to turn Black .But hold on, Akki brainwashes the star rider, forces a determined Dutt to find the treasure
( he knows the ocean better than the fishes) and we head for a horrible climax where now the actors themselves wait for the movie to end.

The direction by the debutante Anthony Dzousa Nothing impressive. You have heard the dialogues by now. The cinematography is majestic and perhaps the only thing that will capture you. AR Rahman has done an average job. The music isnt really great and it doesnt actually stays with you like rahmans previous compositions. The background score is dull. Akshay Kumar has gone over-board.( We get the treasure, well be rich and well be happy he says). Lara Dutta is too sexy but she is there for mysterious reasons.Sanjay Dutt is nt convincing and till today I dunno why he and Aarav keep calling eachother sethji and sarkar

There is a ghostly Kabir Bedi who flashes up on the screen when he desires. Zayed Khan the star rider should do the industry a favour he should stop acting.
Overall Blue is a shark-clad disaster, the producers should save money to pay for an appealing script, better dialogues rather than spending on pointless scuba-divers.

With such a top heavy cast and such a highly touted film, it's rather sad that nobody paid any attention to the script. So it's not one bit surprising that Blue actually drowns at the box-office ocean leaving behind no trace of it's existence after it sank like the Titanic

Sadly even Lara Dutta in her teeny weeny bikini or the combined magic of Katrina Kaif & Akshay Kumar or the highly touted Chiggy Wiggy but wriggling Kylie Minogue item number or even the macho presence of Akki-Sunju could not provide Blue with the much needed oxygen to save Blue from the box-office sharks that got their razor teeth into it!!!

Blue is the story of a deep sea treasure hunt that goes back to the post independence sinking of the Indian Navy vessel Blue Lady getting the Royal Nizam's treasures from England. The captain of the ship goes down with the ship but people behind assume he has disappeared with the treasure. Now only one person knows the way to the lost treasure but he has been forbidden by his dad to ever even think of diving down under and to keep the promise to his dying father he refuses all temptation or provacation.

However circumstances unfold in such a manner that the captain's son is forced to break his vow when his younger brother gets involved with the mob and they turn on the heat full blast and worse is is in store when the girlffriend also gets kidnapped in exchange for the treasure.

What was meant to be an edge of the seat underwater climax is rather long drawn out and prolonged to the limits. But nobody has reason to complain as Lara Dutta flaunts her perfect 10 figure in a scanty bikini that further enhances her ample assets to optimum!!!

International sensation Kylie Minogue was touted as the USP of Blue but all has has is one fleeting Chiggy Wiggy item number after which she ain't seen or heard of again!!!

During the making of Blue it was believed that the only reason why Sunju baba agreed to do Blue was so that he could mic business with pleasure. So even though he is deeply averse to getting inside the deep waters he opted to convert the Bahamas shoot into an extended honeymoon trip as he just tied the knot to Manayaata finally.

So if anyone truly had a ball on screen shooting Blue it was Lara Dutta & Akshay Kumar who were thrilled to check out new adventures and this happened to be Lara's first major release after she split from Kelly Dorjee so she needed a showcase to flash her screen presence and after Partner & Do Knot Disturb this was the perfect project for her.

So even though Blue sunk without a trace at the b.o., it is bound to be remembered as Lara Dutta's film as she has shed her inhibitions and freely exhibited her shapely contours without any prudish nakharas making her lay claims to be India's 21st century answer to Bo Derek!!
