Honestly speaking, reviewing a kid’s movie during summer vacation is a no brainer and reviewing a movie starring super popular Chhota Bheem is definitely a zombie zone thing. All parents with kids between the ages of 3 and 10 are going to make the trudge to pay their respects to Bheem, Chutki, Raju, Jaggu, Dholu, Bholu and Kalia, not to mention King Indraverma and princess Indumati (And with that, Smita wins the quiz on children’s shows on TV And a free trip to Bali!)
So, in this movie, Bheem and his pals help the Prince of Bali to vanquish the evil energy of Rangda who is all set to take over the world, with the help of the good powers of the Barong who in ancient Balinese lore, destroyed Rangda. The movie makes good use of Balinese mythology and you learn bits of Balinese history. They could have shown more Balinese culture and well known tourist spots but then Bheem has to hog most of the screen time understandably. There are some tribals who speak like Pathans, assorted snake people and totally freaky demons, which make the movie colouful and fun.
The movie is well paced and the animation is adequate. The fight sequences in the end are quite gripping. I enjoyed the movie though I don’t watch the TV episodes (if I can escape them).
Like I said, this is a no brainer. Chhota Bheem is the best 2 hour solution to the constant “I am bored” whine that makes mothers look the way they do during vacations. Go for it.. And pack some laddoosview less
