While Akshay Kumar & Suneil Shetty have always been hot favorites for Priyadarshan back since the days of Hera Pheri on the other hand Priyadarshan like Ramgopal Verma has become a sort of film factory churning out films at regular intervals with his assembled cast the only changes one sees is in the female lead changing while everything else remains more or less the same. This has been happening too frequently to be a sheer coincidence.
So if it was Tabu in Hera Pheri then it is Mahima Choudhary in Yeh Tera Ghar Yeh Mera Ghar, while it is Rimi Sen in Malamaal Express or Genelia D'souza in Mere Baap Pehle Aap.
After the super-duper success of Welcome and Singh Is King has brought out the perfect sense of comic timing in Katrina Kaif and has also emerged as a kinda lucky mascot along with Akshay Kumar. Any wonder then that she has been repeated again opposite Akki in De Dana Dan by Priyadarshan too who has incidentally signed Katrina for the first time and she is simply brilliant sandwitched between Akki, Suneil& Sameera Reddy.
Archana Puran Singh brings back fond memories of Shashikala during her golden days as she screams and rants screeching at full volume in a role you're bound to love. Her sense of comic timing is simply superb and she brings down the house everytime she screams at Akshay Kumar in Dolby surround sound.
Former Mrs World Aditi Govratikar is seen on the silver screen after a rather long time maybe because she has been too busy doing realities shows like Big Boss-3 and Fear Factor Season 1. Maybe she got noticed by Akshay Kumar in South Africa while partcipating in the Fear Factor show that was hosted by Akshay Kumar!!!
De Dana Dan like most Priyadarshan films has a wafer thin plot but the situational comedy makes it an absolute laugh riot right from the very word go. This time around you have Akshay Kumar playing Archana Puran Singh's man Friday desperately trying to repay the loan taken by his dead father. On the other hand Suniel Shetty is a struggling actor who came to Singapore to become an action hero like Jackie Chaan but ends up working in a courier company.
Then you have Paresh Rawal evading the cops having 9 arrest warrants in his name coz his checks bounce faster than he can issue them and so he is desperate to get his son married to a multi billionaire's only daughter to pay back his debts.Johnny Lever plays a hired killer while Asrani is a local don.Within these parameters the ground is set when all the characters land in Singapore in the same luxury hotel.
With Suniel Shetty & Akshay Kumar desperate to marry Sameera Reddy & Katrina Kaif before it's too late they hatch a plot to kidnap the rich heiress Archana's lapdog Moolchand to get a huge ransom but turn of events has the police believe that the servant has been kidnapped thus begins a wild goose chase.
Neha Dhupia is once again roped in by Priyadarshan as she is his hot favorite but her role is fleeting maybe because she had to take off for America after she made it big in Hollywood like Mallika Sherawat and this was an old commitment she had to honor.
All said and done De Dana Dan is an absolute time pass laugh riot like most of Priyadarshan films. Nothing more and certainly nothing less!!
