Dolphin Tale 2 is a movie about the struggles of Sawyer Nelson and Clearwater Marine Hospital, and the lengths they had to go through to keep Winter, a tailless dolphin at their facility. If that doesn’t sound interesting to you, it’s because Dolphin Tale 2 mostly isn’t. Every character seems overly kind and good natured, almost saint-like. I get that this is a feel- good film, but there’s almost no element of realism in the characters.

The movie starts with the death of Panama, a 40 year old Dolphin. Winter, who was paired with Panama, doesn’t take this well at all, and gets depressed. This is very upsetting to Sawyer, who takes care of Winter. According to US government regulations, Dolphins can't be kept alone in captivity, and must be paired with one of the same gender. Thus begins the search for another female dolphin along with the hope that they can be friends when they meet.

Dolphin Tale 2 tell an inspiring story, but it doesn’t do so in a memorable fashion. None of the actors make a mark, not even the Morgan Freeman. It’s an inspiring story, but it feels more suited to a documentary. You can give this one a miss, but you won’t really regret watching it either.
