The name suggests everything, but no the movie is much more than fights. Its the entry into excellence of cinema, the way writers write the concept is truely formidable, add to the execution done. This was a cult film still bringing rave reviews and admiration for its wondreful concept and hard criticism for its negative impact on society.
The movie is narrated by an anonymous person (Edward Norton). The guy works in an automobile company and suffers insomnia. To fight his pain, he is advised by doctors to gain and see the real sufferers. He joins cancer victims group and finds solace in their pain, until he is again disturbed by
another pretender Marla Singer (Bonham Carter). He asks her to switch timings with him, both should not be togehter. On one of his flights back from his work to home, he meets TylerDurden (Pitt), a soap salesman, and when he reaches he finds his home detonated. He reaches to Tyler to stay in his dissheleved place. They both start fighting, to vent out their anger and depression. Soon, this turns into a fun habit, and their attract other members too. Now fight club grows, and they start a secret activity "Project Mayhem".
This movie is a revelation, its a exhilarating shock on the audiences brain the way the writer develops the story and keeps unfolding it. The fight and aggression shown turns into a mental game, and later you just can't expect when the level of cinema goes way beyond.
