After Salman Khan, Suraj Pancholi, the alleged boyfriend of late Jiah Khan, has another supporter by his side. Filmmaker Subhash Ghai has reinstated that he and Salman are committed to launch Suraj in the remake version of the 1983 film Hero, whatever may come. Ghai also ensured that Suraj’s association with Jiah Khan’s suicide case has nothing to do with his film debut.

Speculations were going on that Suraj may not debut with the remake of Hero as scheduled due to his police arrest in relation to Jiah’s suicide case. But Ghai dismissed all those reports. He said, "Suraj is not at fault and why should he be punished for it? He is a wonderful and potential actor. We had committed to him and we will stand by it. How can we go back? Salman is not the person who will go back on his words.” Suraj will be paired opposite another debutante in the film, actor Suniel Shetty`s daughter Athiya. Ghai added, "We are making a film with him (Suraj). I don`t know when it will go on floors. I have to discuss it with Salman. But definitely we are making the film with Suraj.” He also added that he has plans to meet Salman next week to chalk out further schedules.
