Perhaps, director Pierre Morel was hired to recreate the success of Taken! Alas, all we could get was a poor imitation of the super hit film generating some pity for the awesomeness of Sean Penn even at 54. C'mon he deserves better than this! So do we.

The film is based on the novel by Jean Pattrick  Manchetteby the name, 'The Prone Gunman'. You might prefer reading it than watching the film!

It's plot revolves around Jim Terrier, a reformed mercenary, wracked by guilt over his role in the assassination of an idealistic politician in the Democratic Republic of Congo, a decade ago. When the organization that ordered the hit decides to eliminate him, Jim goes on the run, killing lots of people in self-defense, all the while trying to protect his ex lover.

There's a lot of forceful infliction of the idealist views, war tensions and political crisis. However, you cannot stop taking references from Taken, for the immitation of shots, treatments and even scenes for that matter.

There is enough of Sean Penn to drool over throughout the movie, so is there Javier Bardem. But what calls for a thriller ends up being predictable and Bollywoodish, often making a laughing stock of itself. We definitely expected better of Morel now. But of course, if you're an action fanatic, you can over look the cliches and sit back with your tub of pop corn and enjoy the Sean Penn action bonanza.

Expected better! It's a skip or a miss. Or just a timepassing choice!
