Hawaizaada is mounted large in terms of visuals and overtly theatrical in tonality. Yet not much of it gels into the requirements of the story leaving us disconnected and overdosed with grandeur.

The story of an obscure historical fact cum probable myth the film tells the story of Talpade who designed a flying machine before the wright brothers could. Obviously supressed and silenced by the british the story traces this amazing adventure in pre independent india with a touch of surreal magic realsim.

The sets scream a Hugo like magical setting into which the two dimension characters try their best to match the opulence in tone and pitch of acting. None of it makes any sense considering the story in it self is far fetched and weak.

Not that the treatement helps. in parts laughable the mandatory love angle mars whatever little credibility thd film could manage. Pallavi sharada and ayushman share zero chemistry adding to the films woes.

There is a way to make myth stand out. Hawaizaada is just too flabby and heavy handed to work it out well. Avoid.
