Verdict

“Ice Cream 2 has all the right ingredients to be a potential disaster. Plus points: Has a better story than Ice Cream. Minus Points: Same old RVG horror formula. Skip it. ”

Ice Cream was a disaster. There isn't another way of describing that 'horrific nightmare' of a movie in the literal sense. But, it takes an RGV to go on pulling stunts on the industry and the audience, without really giving a damn about what anyone, leave alone critics have to say. In his world, every movie is an experiment. In his world, he is too restless and he just wants to believe in an idea and try to execute it in the shortest, cheapest possible format.

Ice Cream 2 uses an abandoned factory and a group of over-enthusiastic wannabe filmmakers(of course with the eye candy)  as the context. Apart from Dhanraj, who is building his own fan base off late, about the only actor of mention is JD as Sikka. A quirky robber, he comes with some unique mannerisms, adding some much needed flesh to the context and indulging the audience a little bit. The eerie area gets scarier, as people start dying, one after another. Who is doing this to the group and will anyone come out of it alive makes for the rest of the movie.

For the thrill seekers, the movie doesn't really offer anything different or new from RGV's trademark camera shots and a plot that gets stretched to death before really annoying the audience by ending suddenly without a proper climactic effect. Apart from a botched up ending, the movie also annoys you by having an entire first half that will test your patience. Obscenity isn't really sitting too far away either and before the action kicks in the second half, you will have to go through quite a few unnecessary scenes just stretching the movie. You could almost list it as an erotic thriller, except that it doesn't do even that properly and ends up being a movie you might just give a pass. Such is the shallowness that even 2 hours feels like an eternity and that is saying a lot.
