Ashwani Chaudhary made his debut with a respectable film called Dhoop in 2003. There has been nothing mentionable post his debut. R.Madhavan has had a good 2011 with Tanu Weds Manu. Bipasha Basu has been struggling for a decent hit since Race(2008). The only thing that could have saved this combination and the film was good word of mouth. They arent getting it from me atleast.

Whats it about? R.Madhavan is a divorce expert who himself is just divorced. He meets Bipasha Basu who becomes his partner in this business and Jodi break karte karte you know what happens. All this happens on one of their case involving Milind Soman, Dippanita Sharma and Mrinalini Sharma.

How is it? Okey Dokey

Why? Even though the script thinks it has created enough complications to engage you there is nothing engaging except watching the beautiful locales of Greece for the little time that the film decides to shift there. Note to filmmakers when shooting abroad please set your scenes in the outdoors and please take lots of wide shoots. At least then some boring films can be watched as a travelogue. Madhavan tries his best to fit into a role that was clearly not meant for him. The kunwara kunwara song in the beginning is enough to put you off. Bipasha is thankfully bearable. Milind Soman is in a tintin like hairstyle and comes across completely disinterested. Dippanita has a why was I chosen for this role? expression. Mrinalini Sharma is the only one who fits the role and performs it well. From the time I saw DTBHJ I have become allergic to Omi Vaidya. I will have to carry Avil the next time I enter a film starring him. The only thing that brought a smile to my face was seeing Helen on screen.


Final few words Jodi Breakers is an attempted rom-Com filled with actors who are 30 and above but caters to neither Under -25 nor Over 25.

With Oscar fever gripping the country fast, there is room for some light frothy romcoms. Jodi Breakers had promised to be that. But what comes out is another trite mishmash of Bollywood bullshit.

Everything is wrong from the get go. Not only is the pairing of the leading couple completely off, but the story, dialogue and direction completely ridiculous. To top it all, there is a grotesque abuse of foreign locations, fine actors like Madhavan and Helen and a sheer wastage of the audiences' time and money.

A special mention for Bipasha Basu. Barring her raunch act in the namesake song, she becomes progressively bad with each passing frame. She can neither handle comedy nor emotions. There is just a pained expression on her face in response to some heavy weight (read a fat Madhavan) action on screen. The only saving grace would be the little sparkle between the second leads Milind Soman (looking jaded yet rakish) and Dippanita Sharma.

So in a nutshell my fellow viewers, stay far away from this one. You might want to break your heads. 1.5 stars view less

Jodi Breakers is a long meandering exercise in confusion. The zany title fools you into thinking it will be a comedy with lots of clever situation involving couples who are trying to break up and are helped in this exercise by the team of professional break up artists. And of course, you assume there will be some cool romance involved also.

Sadly, the movie disappoints on both counts turning into a huge long yawn fest.
Maddy plays Sid, a divorced guy who breaks up other marriages for a living. He teams up with Sonali in this business and then he uses their services to break up a loving marriage so that his money hungry ex wife can seduce and hitch up with the rich industrialist. All this so that he gets his car (stupidly called Horny) back and stop paying alimony to the bitch ex wife. Well, Sid finds out the wife is pregnant and then tries to get the couple back together with the help of the grandmother and also salvage his love life with Sonali in the process. Thankfully, it all ends happily but then we knew that already.

The characters are all supposedly cool and hang out at a bar owned by one of the gang but that is as superficial as the cleavage that Bipasha shows in her item number. The men and women who come looking for help in breaking up their marriages are all sad caricatures and then their cases are solved in a jiffy. A few compromising pictures here and there and voila the judgment is pronounced in court. If you saw Heartbreakers that was recently in the theatres you would have marveled at the clever situations and the efforts the team there takes to break up a couple.

The romance between the lead pair is cold and vapid. There are no sparks as the couple progress from being buddies to soul mates. The story of the married couple who is torn apart for the bitch ex wife is also shallow. Apparently all it takes to break up a couple who were all over each other a scene before is a condom packet in a dustbin, a masseur in the room and bang! Baby we are through!

Maddy is very natural in his acting. IT is almost like he is playing himself on a lazy Sunday afternoon. He is still charming but way, way too fat to be appealing to anyone except 5 year olds who like to cuddle up to their paunchy dads. Bipasha looks ravishing. Every muscle in her body is toned and taut. Unfortunately her facial muscles are as taut and do not move too much irrespective of her state of mind. Omi Vaidya as the cool bartender is mildly amusing. Helen does not have much to do but is a refreshing presence in the sea of stony faces. Milind Soman has an amazing hairstyle that reminds you of Elvis.

Very long, very confused, very pointless and very, very boring. Avoid.

When I saw the first few promos of Jodi Breakers I was far from impressed. From day 1 it looked like a disaster waiting to happen. But as a professional hazard, I had to go in and risk this cinematic offering and what was the outcome?
An infuriatingly mind-numbing affair that makes you want to shoot the makers.

From here on, I shall refer to the protagonists as Booby 1(R.Madhavan Sid) & Booby 2(Bipasha- Sonali) for obvious reasons.

So Booby 1 is a professional divorce specialist who wears 3 layers of clothes while dancing in a pool with half naked women. He has a funny friend called Nano(Omi) whom he calls on for odd favours and such. He encounters Booby 2 at a bar and they suddenly become business partners. A case takes them to Greece where Booby 2 has a song named after her where she displays her assets. A misunderstanding occurs and they split. The second half is their return and them undoing a mistake which they committed.

The screenplay is ridiculous and is assisted by some audacious editing. Random cuts with random scenes mashed up make it an irritating viewing experience.
The best part of the film is the music by Salim-Suleiman as there are 2 good tracks and 1 half decent one thrown in amongst others.

Of the actors Booby 1 a.k.a Madhavan looks obese. It is appalling how a mainstream commercial actor would not get a gym membership for the larger good of the viewers. Seeing him romance Booby 2 a.k.a Bipasha is cringe worthy as she has lost all her sex appeal and seems completely out of it. The cast is salvaged by stereotype Omi Vaidya & a spirited effort by Milind Soman.

Director Ashwini Chaudhary provides film schools with a DVD of how to frustrate your audience. A film that started off with some hope ends with an intention to kill. Complete failure.

To sum it up, Booby Breakers is a waste of time & money. Towards the end Madhavan says a line which is apt. Mein khaane ke ilawa kuchh nahi karta. We believe you Sir and hence I recommend all of you out there to run as far as you can.
And FYI the battle of the Boobiest is won by Booby 1. Sorry Bipasha.
