Kaanchi (Kanchi) - Movie Rating, Reviews - Cast, Story, Videos - Desimartini.com

Verdict: Although watchable due to its patriotic intentions, Kaanchi is a typical Subhash Ghai film without the magic and too much melodrama which doesn't rise above the ordinary. Skip it, for old times' sake.

Kaanchi Review - Kaanchi the angry young woman does not convinceApr 28, 2014News.Much has been said about the earlier 11 hits of Subhash Ghai whose talent as director is unquestionable but he seems to have lost his magic touch. Maybe it is pure fatigue of these years.   This film is weak in almost all departments of film making. With a hackneyed story, uninspiring dialogue, a cast of youngsters who clearly need more retakes to get the scene right, two veterans Mithun Chakraborty and Rishi Kapoor hamming away to glory, and lastly lacklustre music with very little recall value. This is in sharp contrast to his earlier movies .   Despite these drawbacks the movie has got Subhash Ghai written all over it since the treatment is similar though a watered down product The story is about a small town girl's crusade to bring to book her tormentors. How she single handedly manages to overcome evil forces forms the rest of the story.                                                                                                                                                       The director uses all the box office tested gimmicks of his previous films and the movie buff may find flashes of " Taal" without the class and melodious music.   (Even the naughty song ''Choli ke peechey" has been converted to " Kambal ke neechey" but it does not work.) The director fails to keep the audience engaged and impressed with the proceedings, handicapped as he is by the poor lead performances and the lack of melody in the music. Some scenes are shot effectively but this is not enough.   The new heroine Mishti reminds us of Mahima Choudhary and is cute enough but her screeching voice pulls her down. Weak acting is also seen in respect of Kaartik Aaryan. Senior actors Mithun and Rishi do the best they can but their roles do not sound true.   As in a typical Subhash Ghai movie, the photography is good as it captures the rural landscape, but this is not enough to lift the film to acceptable levels.                                                                                                                                                                                                                     Madan Mohan Marwah Kaanchi Review - Kaanchi the angry young woman does not convince Apr 28, 2014
