The king of melodrama, Karan Johar keeping the melodrama at the back and using comic tool to carry a loveable message. Armoured with one of the best performances (from SRK and different from what he has been donig till now), New York locations and wonderful dialogues and music, this was a big blockbuster.
Rahul (Shahrukh Khan) visits New York with his mother. He comes across Preity Zinta, who is short-tempered and easily iritable, its been ages ashe has last smile. Her father committed suicide, and since then she has grown to the fights between her grandmother and mother over the girl .Her brother is handicapped. Once they ask Jesus to save them from this and here comes SRK. He is truly all over in the films, he takes steps now to save their family and sort things out, al with a sense of wit, charm. Preity also has friend SAif, who goes with her part time MBA. Saif is very confused and fells in love every now and then. But Saif do have a soft corner for Prieyt which later develops into love. Menahwile , SRk who was very irritable to Priety always troubling her withhsi jibes, finally ends up being loveable to Preity. She tells this to saif when he is aabout to propose her.
But there is a twist, it is told that SRk is married to Sonali Bendre, she is so beautiful. Now SRK helps Saif in getting lvoe for her with a 6 day strategy.
Now the main part of the story is revealed that SRK is dying, his death is imminent. And then comes melodrama which though, never takes over the entertainer which came out till then.
The film is a complete joy ride. Really good hour scenes have been scripted, the Shahrukh=Saif jodi came out on this sparked lot many same gayish jokes. and Kantabehan was brilliant. Saif proposing Priety when she tells that she loves SRk. Srk going fo a 6fin ladki in strategy.
The performancesa are great. SRK is all over and shows why he is the king Khan plays the role of
Preity does a great role, of a pessimistic girl to a bubbly character.
The flims is never turns to the melodramaa that takes in Annad, but still the underlying theme remains the same, live in today. Whatever you have, live it to the fullest. Director Nikhil Advani, play a great part to direct the movie, written so brilliantly by Karan.
Music is great and so are the costumes. The choreography in Its the Time to Disco is great.
The film should have a little more drama, where it lacked to evoke more tears of a dying mand situation.
