Verdict: A drab occult thriller which should've been a lot more fun.

There are several things wrong with 'The Last Witch Hunter', but the lack of a promising premise isn't one of them. Vin Diesel plays Kaulder, who's been cursed to immortality by a witch. He's been alive and hasn't aged for over eight centuries, and the film has fun with him repeatedly addressing Sir Michael Caine's character as "kid." That, sadly, is one of the few enjoyable bits about this morose occult thriller. This is a film that would've benefitted from a sense of humour which is woefully missing here, and director Breck Eisner seems to be oblivious to the B-movie characteristics of 'The Last Witch Hunter'. It's a B-movie which doesn't recognize that it's a B-movie, unlike, say, Brett Ratner's 'Hercules', and instead wants to be taken at face value. Had it cranked up its ludicrousness, it could've perhaps been a hell of a ride but in its current state, it's none-too-offensive but nevertheless mighty uninteresting slog.
