Till date there have been many Hollywood remakes and few can be tagged as good watch but actor producer Suneil Shetty tried his hands on this idea and created a disaster. Loot is a total copy of Hollywood flick Crime Spree, which was well appreciated crime comedy. Though Loot is a scene-by-scene remake of Crime Spree but still it is neither enjoyable nor admirable.

Suneil Shettys idea of simply copying a Hollywood movie and presenting it onscreen is a complete waste. Film-makers frankly would have put in lot of efforts to spoil such an appealing storyline to give us Loot. Bland dialogues, poor performances, dull direction, bad editing and horrible camerawork is what Loot is all about. By making a crime thriller and keeping Mahesh Manjrekar in it will not result in the making of Kaante.

The extent of copy-pasting is that director Rajnish Thakur did not even change sites and backgrounds; it is absolutely same as we saw in Crime Spree. Casting Director needs some lessons as he didnt know that Govinda & Javed Jafri are known for their comic timings and not Suneil Shettey. No doubt Crime Spree was also inspired by Hollywood block-buster Lock Stock and Two Smoking Barrels but it did keep its original essence alive. Dont know if Suneil Shetty was trying to pay homage to Crime Spree but seriously it looked like some zero effort movie.

I have personally been to Thailand couple of times but I never felt that it is as miserable as what I saw in Loot. Honestly, Thailand tourism will ban Bollywood Shoots after watching Suneil Shettys Loot. Owing to miscast in the film no one performed to their best and leaves audience questioning that why was this movie made? After certain point of time it just becomes unbearable and you will actually feel like leaving the theatre.

Loot is a movie that must be wondering the reason for its existence, in the darkness of the theatre as it looks out at the vast emptiness. Why was I born? To entertain audiences? To let Sunil Shetty show off his toned body in some action shots? Or to resurrect careers of faded stars like Govinda and Kim Sharma? The only thing good that has come out of this hopeless film 'Loot' is the honest confessions from Suneil Shetty the producer who has promised that this is the last film he shall be producing as he can no longer balance the losses as a producer from his acting career as well as his Udipi chain of restaurants. So he shall only focus on his restaurants and do only outside banner films as and when someone offers him a role in their film. Not just that alone even Kim Sharma (please don't humilate her by asking Kim who?) has confessed that she has devoted more than ample time energy and effort in her lame career and has been terribly upset with the way it has shaped over the years.So Loot shall officially be her last film now that she is married and wants to devote quality time to her husband and family so that her marriage does not shape up like her career did and leave her miserable in the bargain. Now it only waits to be seen how long both Suneil Shetty as well as Kim Sharma can stick to the promise they both made...One as a flop producer and the other as a flop actress!!!The best thing or some would say the worst thing about Loot (depending on which side of the screen you're actually) is that leave alone the audience even the cast for a good part of the film does not know what they're doing actually and that justifies them sleep walking on the screen trying to keep a straight face before the director calls cut and they can go to their make-up room and relax.Since Suneil Shetty is also the producer, it seems he is the only one who seems to know why he is in Loot cause it's his money that is being blown up freely so the pain on his usually blank face is quite understandable. As for Govinda he seems to have left his career in the hands of the God above to do some miracle because everytime he is written off and he is asked to pack his bags he bounces back with an odd 'Partner' and his shelf life gets extended and then follows a series of never ending flops like Naughty@40 or Loot each hoping against hope their film shall prove to be another Partner in his career but alas no such luck..Atleast not here.As for all those wondering what the heck is Shweta Bhardwaj doing in Loot after the miserable debut she made in Mission Istanbul another dud from Suneil Shetty the only answer to that seems that they overpaid her back then or else they saw so much promise in her that they signed an exclusive three film deal with her just like Vasu Bhagnani did with Diya Mirza and lived to regret it. So to compensate for the money Shweta was paid she was incorporated into Loot and in all honesty only Kim Sharma would agree to play second fiddle to her. No other heroine no matter what the shape of her career would consent to allow a nobody like Shweta to bask in the lime-light with them.If that is not enough then to add insult to injury you actually have Kim Sharma paired opposite Mika Singh. Gosh, any wonder then that Kim Sharma announced her retirement in sheer disgust after Loot. She couldn't possibly go any lower than this in her career could she? I mean after being launched by Yash Chopra it is an irony that she claims to have retired with Suniel Shetty in Loot. From Jugal Hansraj her first hero in Mohabbatein to Mika in Loot has indeed been an eventful cinematic journey for Kim Sharma As for Mahesh Manjrekar it seems he earns enough as a director so he is acting only for the pleasure he derives so any and every film is welcome and Loot is exactly one of those kind of films where he is contend to get paid for pursuing his hobby. Javed Jaffri is one actor who is truly a sad caricature of his former self and one simply hates to think what he shall be reduced to if he remains in film as long as his dad Jagdeep did before making a perfect ass of himself on t.v. While Javed's talent n sense of comedy cannot he doubted yet sadly most directors only bring out the worst in him on screen and he hardly seems to care as he earns enough from his dance show on SonyThe only person who is cut out for the character perfectly is Mika who plays a roadside goon and looks it perfectly too. If only he had Rakhi Sawant as his moll instead of Kim Sharma that would have been perfect casting and maybe just maybe Kim Sharma too would not have announced her retirement from Bollywood either. . Ravi Kissen as an undercover agent seems pretty comfortable as long as he is under-cover but gets truly foxed when his cover is blown which is quite often. Seeing Loot it's hard to tell where obscene finishes and vulgar takes over!!Even if you're a Govinda fan or relish heavy duty double meaning dialogues it's best to avoid Loot and if you must watch it then just wait for the World television premiere which seeing it's box-office fate is bound to be pretty soon!!REVIEWED THE LIP SHANDIL view less
