The monsters ar back, though this time, we are taken to a point in tiem before they became teh famous scarers that they were in the frist instalment of Pixar's earliest foray into animation films. Monsters Univeristy is charming fun though not as ingenuine like the predecessor.
Monstropolis is where the action takes place this time round too, with James and Mike are students training and aiming to become the best scarers ever. They along with their lame teacher Oozma, have to win the Scare contest, how they go about doing it is the central plot in the story.
A classic underdgo tale is given an inventive hillarious makeover by Pixar with Monsters Univeristy. The film is easy on the mind, the tone never too preachy, the moments not manipulative yet tugging at the heart srings, visual brilliance spills over in parts while the humor makes you lol sometimes. There is a lot to be enjoyed here for fans of the first instalment, while those watching it for the first time too would love the proceedings without missing out on the context.
What stops this film from being a handsdown smasher is the fact that despite all the fun one has, there is still something amiss, that holds the film back. Wierdly, the film lacks the punch that Monsters Inc had, it is too lame perhaps, or too safely panned out, but for sure, this one doesnt not really take off on a spectacular curve even once. So while you enjoy yourself, one cant but help being a tad disappointed and let down with the overall impact of the movie. Nonetheless it is goos weekend outing , especially if there are kids you need to engage.view less
