Mother’s day is a terrible waste of time, money and talent. It’s plot is coma inducingly boring, coupled with character development that doesn’t exist. At it’s best it's a snooze fest. It’s worst moments (which is most of the movie) aren’t worth a mention. It’s surprising that with a cast and director of this calibre a movie can turn out to be so awful.
Jennifer Aniston is a divorced mother who’s struggling to get to grips with how much her kids like her ex’s new girlfriend. She doesn’t take their affection for them well at all and it leads to a lot of embarrassing moments for her. Kate Hudson married an Indian guy, much to the displeasure of her mother, who has cut her out of her life. Jason Sudeikis is a grieving widower who has two daughters. He’s struggling to be a good enough mommy for his kids, especially with the older one approaching a certain age. Julia Roberts is TV celeb who had given up her daughter for adoption at a very young age.
That’s it. Thats pretty much all there is to Mother’s Day’s “plot”.
Mother’s day’s cast is wasted on this movie. You can absolutely not make yourself for any of the characters or how the story will end. It’s just boring stuff from start to finish. There’s far better ways to spend time with one’s mother than watching this.
