Orange Mittai is a bittersweet comedy. The story is set in 48 hours inside an ambulance where two workers have to take care of an old man, who is really tough to handle. What happens between these characters forms the crux of the story.

Verdict

We have seen foreign language films which deal with the relationship and bond establish between two individuals. Of course we are not talking about love; here the bond is unconditional and magical. Director Biju Viswanath has tried his to give the feel good magical moment which we experienced in films like Intouchables but with the treatment which is catered for Tamil audience.

Kailasam (Vijay Sethupathi) is an old man who affected by chronic kidney disease but he don’t want die in hospital instead he make prank calls to emergency service so that he could experience new place and people.

At one day, Kailasam is attended by the EMT Sathya (Ramesh Thilak) and the ambulance driver Aaru (Bala). During the journey, Kailasam and Sathya share a bond which continues beyond everything.

Director Biju Viswanath has extracted the best from Vijay Sethupathi. The actor steals the show with his energetic mannerisms yet he conveys the emotion elusively which proves the maturity level and understanding of his character.

Ramesh Thilak has given an adequate performance but he only shines in the climax otherwise Vijay Sethupathi’s performance arrests all our attention.

Music by Justin Prabhakaran is just okay but the background score is not apt for the movie that he failed to give the much needed pauses.

To conclude, Orange Mittai is definitely watchable for Vijay Sethupathi’s acting but one can’t declare it as a classic, thanks to the familiar plot and not so good performance by the other actors.
