'Speed thrills but kills' is not an adage that a New York bicycle couriers is mindful of. Nor is he/she confronted by jaywalking cows, buffaloes, goats and humans.
But what one courier (Joseph Gordon-Levitt as Wilee) does have is a host of people after him and an envelope that he is meant to deliver in China Town. To say any more would kill the fun.
The film spans about two hours, two crazy adrenalin fuelled hours, in the life of Wilee one fine evening. Right from the start you are taken, at break neck speed, through New York's streets and avenues as Wilee and his colleages are seen going about their job. Feel free to groan and wince as you feel each and every bump and bruise these dare devils take. And don't forget to breathe.
Director David Koepp keeps the story tight, no superfluous scenes at all and the camerawork by Mitchell Amundsen is the real star of the movie. One wonders what the effect would have been if it had been shot in 3D !!
Catch the movie with a group of friends. Great fun. Don't try the stunts.
And once again - don't forget to breathe !
