A lot can happen over coffee (and as you will discover over the course of the film--over beer, wine, champage..gol guppa shots and herbal tea)
Queen starts similarly to another 2014 favourite..with a show reel of wedding preparations. Everything seems hunky dory dore tai baraati until the groom to be develops cold feet and not so gently breaks it off with Rani(Kangana) at a Coffee Day two days before the wedding. He has seen a world beyond Rajouri Garden and somehow his college love doesnt fit in there.
That is when Rani decides to go on a honeymoom for one, and we are treated to a Desi in Abroadland minus the usual Bollywood cliches. There is so much to love in this film, Rani laying the ghost of Eiffel Tower to rest, Lucknowi ada in Amsterdam's red light district, Kangana bettering THAT trick from Footloose (move over JEnnifer Beals!) , Diana Haydon and Kangana Ranaut playing at Veronica and Meera from Cocktail THE WAY IT SHOULD HAVE BEEN.
Yes, there are some dreamy pherangs playing at women empowerment (I had visions of Mehdi Nebbou and English Vinglish) but in the end it was so refreshing to discover a princess/rani in distress who rescues herself right back. Yay!view less
