Saajan sequel to come up soon under Lawrence D'Souza’s direction

The blockbuster of 1991, Saajan starring Sanjay Dutt, Madhuri Dixit and Salman Khan, is set to be followed up by Lawrence D'Souza next year with a "younger star cast of known actors".

The cast of the Saajan sequel is not yet finalised and not even its title. As told by D’Souza, "The scripting is done. The basic idea of the film is the same - a love triangle -- two heroes and a heroine. We want big stars for this film. We would go with a younger lot of known actors. We do have few names in mind.” He said further, "I had thought of remaking the film when people started asking me to remake old blockbusters.”

In the original Saajan, Sanjay Dutt, an orphan gets his childhood friend in Salman Khan, who is quite wealthy. Dutt grows up as a popular poet under the pen name 'Sagar' and Madhuri was one of his fans. Madhuri’s soft spot for the poet and Salman’s landing in the love-story lead to a love tri-angle. The sequel will undergo shooting in Kashmir next year. Saajan won millions of hearts with its superhit songs like Dekha Hai Pehli Baar, Tum Se Milne Ki Tamanna Hai, Bahut Pyar Karte Hain, Tu Shayar Hai and Jiye To Jiye Kaise.
