Sex Tape is the latest comedy featuring Jason Segel's quirky brand of humour. Sadly, it isn’t a patch on his previous attempts. There’s many occasions where you feel the movie is trying too hard, and ends up failing badly. Another failing is that Cameron Diaz and Jason Segel don’t really have great chemistry on screen.
Annie and Jay were high school sweethearts who used to have sex all the time. As with all good things, this came to an abrupt halt when Annie got pregnant. Being a smart, educated, young couple, they decided marriage is the answer. Fast forward to the present, and you see that Annie and Jay are doing pretty well. They’ve got a second kid, and are happy except for one thing : they don’t have sex any more. Deciding to spice things up a bit, Annie suggests they make a sex tape (Is she ok?). As expected, the video gets leaked to all the ipads they’ve given out as gifts (seriously, who does that!?), and now the two of them are on a wild goose chase trying to retrieve all of them.
This is a mediocre film. It’s not exactly bad in any category, but its not great either. The acting is decent, and there are a few laughs to be had, but seeing the cast, this movie has to be considered a disappointment. No need to go see this one.view less
