Verdict

“Akshay Kumar, Annu Kapoor and Piyush Mishra are the only remotely funny elements in a film that is boring, flimsy and inane. The Shaukeens is an easy miss. ”

3 of the finest actors in the industry come together for some goold old fashioned boys fun. A remake of a classic, does this one even remotely match up to the original?

Good fun in the first half, this one meanders away & drags towards a boring finish.

Pros:

1. Piyush Mishra. In his silence & expressions, he emotes more than everyone else, what a phenomenal actor.

2. Annu Kapoor as the charismatic 60 year old is bang on.

3. Some really fun dialogues.

4. Lisa Haydon looking stunning.

Cons:

1. Akshay Kumar's cameo. He hams for most of it.

2. A barrage of songs which are abolutely unnecessary.

3. A very weak climax that drags.

4. Even though its 2 hours long, it feels much more.

5. Super story with great potential that is totally wasted. Humour dries up in in the 2nd half.

All in all, this one could have been brilliant. All 3 actors are rocking it with their performances but for some reason it doesnt quite come together. Starts off well, builds up well but with 3 songs in 15 minutes (pre-interval), the 2nd half lets you down & gives you a mediocre product.

Good watch on TV, can skip going to cinema halls. Lots of great english movies to watch this week.
