While I'm all for Indian cinema transcending horizons & achieving new heights, Makrand Deshpande's Sona Spa is warped to a point where it is just a drag.

Based on an interesting premise that we can hire "sleep workers" who can sleep for us while we chill and make most of our time. While this sounds great, the director tells us to commit crimes in our sleep lest we do them in reality. The process is unintentionally hilarious, as the worker & the customer get close, touch foreheads, look at a screen that reminded me of the fortune telling machine at Juhu Beach & drift away into oblivion, or is it reality?

The line between dreams & reality get murkier as the workers aren't supposed to interact with the clients outside but end up chatting them up. Throw in an appalling cameo by Naseerudin Shah & you have a complete mess of a film, which tries too hard to be different.

Director Makrand Deshpande fails on all counts as this ambitious venture falls flat. Poorly paced, shoddy production values, next-level hamming & a title like "SONA SPA" makes this one terrible watch. Go for one of last weeks offerings instead, as one doesn't serve us anything noteworthy.
