Rajveer (Vinay Virmani) leads a double life as an obedient son at home whose day job is that of a truck driver while he secretly plays Ice Hockey. When he faces discrimination while getting picked for a team, he forms his own instead bringing in a coach (Rob Lowe) to teach them a thing or two. He faces opposition from his father (Anupam Kher), finds love in the coachs sister (Camille Belle) & banters with his scheming brother-in-law (Russell Peters). So does this all-Sikh team do well? I'll give you a hint; it doesnt get more predictable than this
Thanks to the experience of director Robert Lieberman & cinematographer, Steve Danyluk, at the very least the scenes on the ice-rink look pretty good; unfortunately the same can't be said of the rest of the movie. Everything, plot-wise has been done before, be it 'Bend it Like Bechkham', 'Patiala House', 'Chak De India' and even 'Lagaan'. Youll be hard-pressed to find a shred of originality in the whole movie.
Russell Peters irritates like hell, Vinay smiles far too much, Camille Belle looks out of sorts, Rob Lowe obviously got paid a lot for this & Anupam Kher does his usual shtick (he should register a patent for these kind of roles). The rest of the characters aren't even given enough screen time to register.
'Speedy Singhs' is utterly predictable with a very poor script that is backed by some highly mediocre acting. The only thing about the movie is the fact that it gets over in under two hours.
