Thani Oruvan is a captivating cat and mouse game. Yes, the film indeed has an age old storyline but the execution is extremely stylish and intelligent, which makes the movie an interesting watch!

Mithran (Ravi) is an honest police officer and he finds out that a celebrated scientist, Siddharth Abhimayu (Arvind Swamy) runs India’s most dangerous organized crime. Siddharth’s father is a puppet politician who has all the powers but dances to the tunes of his own son, so Mithran can’t cease him without evidence. From there, the cat and mouse game begins with an engaging screenplay written by Mohan Raja.

Thani Oruvan’s biggest strengths are Arvind Swamy’s characterization and dialogue delivery. Man,  the actor is in terrific form and he is absolutely majestic on the big screen. Though Ravi is not having the sparkling screen presence like Arvind Swamy, his effort is very much evident and also, the screenplay compensates it. Nayanthara is having a great scope in the movie and the actress too has given a convincing performance.

Writers duo Subha’s dialogues are like tracer bullet, they leave strong impression in the minds of the audiences.  All the actors including Thambi Ramiah, Nassar, Ganesh Venkatraman and Vamsi  Krishna are fabulous in the film.

Ramji’s cinematography and Hiphop Tamizha Aadhi’s music are added advantages for the already engaging movie. There is no big flaw in the movie except for the snail pace in the initial portions of the first half otherwise the film is a completely engaging watch.

Comparing to the routine commercial potboilers, Thani Oruvan is a refreshing. Do yourself a favor by watching it and thank me later!
