Verdict: The Darkest Hour does have some mind-boggling visuals but with a long-drawn-out script and lifeless characters, the film doesn’t manage to connect with the viewers. Avoid it!

Plot: THE DARKEST HOUR follows five young people who find themselves stranded in Moscow, fighting to survive in the wake of a devastating alien attack. The 3D action-thriller highlights the classic beauty of Moscow alongside mind-blowing special effects from the minds of visionary filmmaker Timur Bekmambetov (WANTED, NIGHT WATCH) and director Chris Gorak.

There are films where you root for the hero. There are films where one roots for the bad guy. And then there are films, like The Darkest Hour, where you root for the end credits. That is how bad the film is.

A bunch of youngsters, swedes, Americans, are the only survivors in Russia, where a gang of Aliens are attacking humans. The aliens are blobs of electricity, that burns humans when they come in contact with them. How the bunch manages to end the mayhem is the crux of the non existent story in the film.

Right from the beginning , it is amply clear who in the bunch would die after whom, the predictability of the script is such. Not one sequence sends the chills down your spine, neither are the situations unintentionally funny to make time pass.

The heart of any creature movie are the creatures themselves. Here, the creatures for most parts are electricity waves, and the few minutes they actually show their form, they are not even half as scary as Ra.One.

With no thrills, nothing in terms of a plot line and absolutely nothing new in terms of action, The Darkest Hour is a completely unbearable enterprise. Steer clear of it at any cost.view less
