The plot of This Means War couldnt have been simpler, even if it tried. Two super-spies turn from friends to foe over a girl and use every trick they have at their disposal to woo her and derail each others plans. There is a bad guy somewhere in there but thats purely coincidental for some of the larger noise and light show action sequences on display. Much of the movie is spent like a live action (and far less violent) version of MAD Magazines Spy Vs Spy and that isnt quite a good thing.
Tom Hardy & Chris Pine may be the toast of tinsel-town at the moment riding on the back of some impressive performances; however this will probably be a movie that fell under the house rent paycheck category. In addition to bland characters, they are put in embarrassing physical comedy which isnt exactly their forte. Reese Witherspoons star has been on the fade for sometime now and this movie shows precisely why.
With the McG directing, the action sequences (which look like spoofs sometimes) are flashy and loud, unfortunately for fans of the above, they is far too little razzle-dazzle in this action-comedy.
