    Actor John Abraham is looking forward to his upcoming filmShootout at Wadalawith hopes that his role of gangster Manya Surve would help him gain a prestigious position in the industry asVaastavhelped Sanjay Dutt achieve the same. John will be seen as Manohar Arjun Surve alias Manya Surve, a member of the Mumbai underworld who was shot down in the police encounter at suburban Wadala in 1982.

    John stated, "I thinkShootout at Wadalawill only do good... Positive thing for me. The film is a re-introduction of John Abraham. I am hopeful that people will see me in a different perspective. It is a very special film for me.” He also said, "For me this film is like Sanjay Dutt'sVaastavwhich presented Sanjay

    in a different way and did wonders for him. I am hoping the same.” Dutt had won the Filmfare Award for the best actor in 2000 for his role inVaastav, directed by Mahesh Manjarekar.

    Shootout at Wadala, which is directed by Sanjay Gupta, also stars Anil Kapoor, Kangna Ranaut, Tusshar Kapoor and Sonu Sood in other lead roles. The film is slated to release on May 1.
