For those unaware, Unbroken is directed by Angelina Jolie & is based on the phenomenal life of Louis Zamperini, an Olympian & a war-veteran, who survived a plane crash only to be made into a POW. Sounds mad doesnt it, well doesnt quite translate to the same level on-screen.

Pros:

1. Technically, the film is fantastic. Its got scale, grandeur & finishing like any big Hollywood production.

2. Good performances, especially by Japanese singer Miyavi.

3. The story of his life itself, which is so unbelievable, it surely makes for an interesting film plot.

Cons:

1. The background score, which is trying to fool you into building the emotion.

2. The almost filmi treatment to so many sequences, rendering them rather wasted.

3. After a point, the film tends to drag & the high points are few and far between.

4. Weak writing, that too when you have Coens as co-writers.

My issue is that the film could have been so much more. For a story this moving, the man deserved a better film. A bit underwhelming & an overall drag after a point, this one can be given a miss. Sorry Miss Jolie, but this ones off.
