Veteran Hollywood actor Charles Durning is no more

In a sad news, legendary Hollywood actor and World War II veteran Charles Durning passed away in New York on Tuesday. The actor, who had appeared in over 100 films and scores of television shows and was twice nominated for the Oscar, died of natural causes at his home, his representative informed People magazine.

Durning’s acting career started when producer Joseph Papp hired him for the New York Shakespeare Festival but his first noticeable role was of a policeman in the film,The Sting. His first Oscar nomination came forThe Best Little Whorehouse in Texasand secondtime he wasnominated forhis depiction of a Nazi officer in the Mel Brooks comedyTo Be or Not to Be.
