Director Ramesh Subramaniam comes up with a novel plot in Vil Ambu, which focusses on two extremely different characters who belong to the same locality. How various circumstances and the society influence the intertwined lives of the two characters is narrated with annoyingly repetitive subplots and easily predictable twists and turns.

The films stars with a voice over which tells us how the lives of two humans are invariably connected and how the action of one directly or indirectly affects someone else in the universe. The novelty of the plot ends right here. Ramesh contrives easy real life situations and contrives them to the hilt to keep the audience engaging. But, the predictability in the screenplay is quite evident and gets totally unmasked when the story approaches the second half.

Sree and Harish have delivered good performances with genuine portrayals of Karthi and Arun. Yogi Babu's hilarious wisecracks keep the audiences in splits whenever he makes his gleaming presence on screen.

Overall, Vil Ambu has its ambitions set in the right place but everything else goes off the track.
