Verdict

“Warning has some thrilling moments and competent execution but it could have done with a better script. One time watch, only if you have nothing to do.”

Plot : Santosh Barmola invites his four school friends ( Sumit Suri, Madhurima Tuli, Varun Sharma and Manjari Phadnis) to Fiji. Manjari’s husband Jitin Gulati is also there along with their baby. There is also Santosh’s date Suzana Rodrigues on board. A weekend trip on a yacht lands them in the open sea with no way to get on board the yacht again.

Review – According to the opening credit the film is based on the characters created for the film Open Water Adrift. So that makes it a remake of the same. Though it is not a bad remake it doesn’t give you the nail biting thrill which it is supposed to give, maybe because if you have seen a film in this genre anything else looks the same. For those who have not seen a film like this it would be a good watch. Debutant director Gurmeett Singh crafts the film well but to prove his mettle he needs to do some original work. The background score (John Stewart) and the cinematography (Franz Pagot) are two things that give the film an international look and sound. I haven’t seen open water adrift so I don’t know how much does it take from the original but the emotional scenes and a song jars the pace and mood of the film in the 2nd half. The immaturity in the actors shows in the emotional scenes. Varun Sharma who has already proved his mettle in Fukrey doesn’t get much to do in this one. The rest of the debutants are just about okay. Their performance was more on the physicality of the role rather than the depth of the emotional requirement.

Word of mouth – Warning is only for those who have not seen open water or any film in that genre. The rest are warned not to venture into this open water adrift remake.
