    62nd National Awards, how the honors went

    President Pranab Mukherjee presented the 62nd National Film Awards here in the capital on Sundayhonouring the multiplicity and the diversity of Indian cinema.


    Shashi Kapoor who was honoured with the Dadasaheb Phalke Award recently, couldn’t make it to the event and the veteran actor will soon be felicitated in Mumbai. A special film on Kapoor was shown on the occasion. The president too gave “special congratulations” to the 77 year old legend. “My special congratulation is to Shri Shashi Kapoor, who has been honored with the Dadasaheb Phalke Award this year. His contribution to cinema has been tremendous. He is a true living legend. I wish him a long and healthy life,” said President Pranab Mukherjee.


    Bollywood’s ‘Queen’ Kangana Ranaut who looked ravishing in a floor sweeping gown received the Best Actress award from the President. She along with Priyanka Chopra whose movie Mary Kom won the award for Best Popular Film Providing Wholesome Entertainment will be hosting a party to celebrate their success.


    Finance Minister Arun Jaitley and Minister of State for Information and Broadcasting Rajyavardhan Rathore also attended the event.
