7 Epic Movies That Hrithik Roshan Must Regret Rejecting

Anybody’s loss is someone else’s gain they say, but why do we sense Hrithik Roshan has been kind of unlucky here? Almost everything in his career that he rejected later went on to become hits, or acquired a cult status! Hrithik ever since his debut with Kaho Naa Pyaar Hai in 2000 has been a part of several box office blockbusters, but not many are wary of the fact, that he also let a number of good films slip out of his hands.

Here are 7 films that Hrithik Roshan rejected and may have later regretted!

    Dil Chahta Hai

7 Epic Movies That Hrithik Roshan Regrets Rejecting

The film that holds credit for having lifted the bar of Indian cinema with manifold prospects was earlier offered to Hrithik Roshan. The film had Aamir, Akshaye Khanna and Hrithik in the picture since the beginning. Aamir who plays Aakash was playing Sidharth. Akshaye who plays Sidharth was playing Sameer. Hrithik who didn’t play anything was offered Aakash. It was only after Hrithik turned down Farhan’s ambitious debut vision that Saif had to enter and everything else was reorganized the way we see it today.

Hrithik at one of his early interviews was found expressing his disbelief as to how Farhan could pull such a script with so much style. Three years later, the two collaborated for Lakshya.

    Main Hoon Na

If only he had done this film, we would have had another brotherly combination of SRK and him. Hrithik was cast by Farah to play Lucky in Main Hoon Na until she didn’t realize he was going to turn himself into as big a superstar as Shah Rukh was. Considering the conflict and colliding two big names in the same plot, Farah thought she could never be able to justify Hrithik in Lucky’s character. Hrithik went out and his brother in law Zayed came in and the film became a big office success. We’re not sure if Hrithik would feel too sad about it!

    Swades

One of those films that could have made Hrithik Roshan just more than a star, was Ashutosh Gowariker’s Swades. After the overwhelming success of Lagaan, while Ashu first went to Aamir to pick Swades, Mr. Perfectionist turned it down. The filmmaker then went to Hrithik hoping for him to say yes but he didn’t. Hrithik didn’t feel the film was apt enough for him to be a part of and thus declined the role. It was Shah Rukh Khan who later gave life to Mohan Bhargava. While the film didn’t win any box office battles, it did however earn a cult status over a period of time.

    Bunty Aur Babli

Another biggie that could have had him play an interesting character in a Yashraj production was politely turned down by Hrithik since he was too busy preparing for Krrish. Directed by Shaad Ali, Bunty Aur Babli however did very well at box office with Abhishek Bachchan and Rani Mukerji in the lead along with Big B.

    Rang De Basanti

Another classic cult that Hrithik surprisingly turned down was Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra’s Rang De Basanti. Hrithik was offered the role of Karan/Bhagat Singh, the second lead behind Aamir that was later played Tamil star Sidharth. While Hrithik liked the idea of the movie, he wanted to grab the lead role of DJ that Aamir had already given his nod for. Rakeysh didn’t oblige Hrithik’s demand and the rest is history. Is Hrithik kicking himself for having left the film? We guess!

    Shuddhi

7 Epic Movies That Hrithik Roshan Regrets Rejecting

One of the grandest projects in the pipeline of Dharma Productions, Shuddhi had always been set as a film to feature Hrithik in the lead. To be directed by Karan Malhotra of Agneepath fame, Hrithik initially had issues with Kareena’s admission as the female lead, but constant delays in the making ultimately made him bid farewell to the project. The project later went to Salman and even he walked out of it after a certain point of time. Varun Dhawan is who we believe is the locked face for Shuddhi. Hrithik again had the valor of saying no to a film that had potential of a being the biggest project possible on Indian celluloid.

    Pink Panther 2

Hrithik’s degree of saying no to projects didn’t just restrict itself to Indian boundaries. The actor had the heart of saying no to big Hollywood movies too. Bollywood’s very own superhero said no to the makers of Pink Panther 2 who wanted to cast him in an important role. The same film also had Aishwarya Rai as the female lead. Yes it would have been epic to have two top Bollywood faces in a Hollywood project but that’s one decision we don’t have any complaints from Hrithik for having said no. This one was a forgettable affair!

We don’t mind Hrithik saying no to movies and doing some other stuff he likes, but if he dodged these movies to do Main Prem Ki Deewani Hoon, Kites or Bang Bang, he better be careful about what he rejects next!
