Is Aamir Khan's Dangal Close To Breaking Sultan's Records?

The opening box office collections of his December release Dangal have arrived, and it’s time to talk about records. Dangal has collected a whopping 29.78 Cr on its opening weekend, which is a fabulous number considering we’re living in the time of demonetization.

What’s even more interesting is the fact that Dangal has taken over as the movie with second highest opening week collection in 2016, with Salman Khan’s Sultan at the reigning position with 36.59 Cr which was also a wrestling drama.
Aamir’s film has also made about 59 Lakhs from its Tamil and Telugu versions.

Top 10 opening collections of all time

Dangal has also made it to the list of top 10 opening collections of all time at the seventh position. While Salman Khan has taken away most slots in this list, Aamir too has two more movies, PK and Dhoom 3 in this coveted list.
He does one film a year and steals everyone’s thunder. Aamir Khan is known for very quietly working on his movies, and then dropping a bomb at the end of the year, when all filmmakers are basking in their own glory. While all the three Khans did one magnanimous movie this year, Aamir Khan seems to be slowly taking over.
