Aamir Khan starrer Dhoom 3 poses box-office threat to Jayantilal Gada`s Mahabharat

A list of voiceover artists with huge star power like Amitabh Bachchan, Vidya Balan and Ajay Devgan was not of much help to Jayantilal Gada`s Mahabharat as Aamir Khan’s Dhoom 3 has been ruling the box-office right now.Amaan Khan-directed India`s most expensive animated film, Mahabharat, was released in around 150 screens on Friday. Makers of the 125-minute film also didn’t focus much on its promotion which is said to be made on a budget of Rs. 50 crore. Mahabharat was in the making for last seven years and as the official statement reveals it has earned nearly Rs. 1.5 crore in three days.

Rajesh Thadani from Multimedia Combines said, “The movie is not upto the mark. There are no concrete Box Office collection figures.” Trade analyst Komal Nahta echoed the same, “The movie has performed very poorly.” Expectations are not very high from the animated film as viewers are still interested in watching Dhoom 3 which released on December 20. Thadani added, “‘Dhoom 3’ is doing very well. In 10 days, it has minted Rs.211 crore in India.” After supervising the reception of Mahabharat it seems that Indian audience is still not very cordial towards animation movies.
