Once known for playing mainstream and cliché roles, Akshay Kumar has found new depth in his acting ability by doing movies of different genres. The superstar does more movies than any other top actors, which averages to three-four movies, said he has found new method to evolve as an actor. "It wasn't a planned move," he added.

"While I enjoy doing hard-core commercial movies and have a great attitude towards slapstick comedies like the 'Housefull' franchise, I maintain that for an actor to increase his shelf life, he has to constantly dabble in genres." The actor also pointed out that our people do not take much interest in ‘real’ issues. Talking particularly about his last movie, he said, “Airlift went on to become the hit it did. However, before the film released I don't think many of us were even aware that 1, 70,000 Indians were evacuated from Kuwait and that we had a Guinness World Record for the biggest human evacuation.

Giving the example of ‘Spotlight’ that won Oscar for the Best Film, he explained, “That wasn't the case with 'Spotlight'. People were aware of the subject way before the film released and winning an Oscar is the ultimate glory for this film. When Hollywood sinks its teeth into something, they ensure that they create awareness of the subject at every level". The movie is a biographical crime drama that unveils the widespread child sex abuse done by Clergy in Boston area.
