Kalki Koechlin explains, "It revolves around these clowns, who, bored with their usual comic routine, decide to try a Shakesperean tragedy for a change. While I don't think I have the technical know-how yet to direct a film, I may be able to direct this play." Kalki confirms that her character would make people laugh as well as cry. "It's Hamlet after all at the end of the day," she reasons. Talking about Shahid-Shraddha starrer Haider, Kalki says, "Shraddha is a good performer and I'm waiting to see her as Ophelia, who is the most vulnerable character in the play. What happens is not her fault, yet she suffers." She adds "Clowns put on a face to make people laugh even as they struggle to make ends meet. It's a double-edged sword that can cut deep."

Kalki Koechlin’s upcoming film includes Happy Endings, Margarita With A Straw and Jiya O Jiya. "But the film I'm most excited about is Jiya O Jiya, a chick flick with Richa Chada. Why should only guys have all the fun in films like Dil Chahta Hai and Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara. Girl buddies can have fun too."she points out. Talking about her former husband, the fair-skinned actress retorts "He's still a good friend. That hasn't changed."
