    After Sandcastle, Shomskuklla Das makes global mark again with Chhuttii Aar Picnic

    Theatre person turned filmmaker Shomskuklla Das's second directorial venture Chhuttii Aar Picnic, is garnering international recognition. The film has reportedly received eight nominations in various categories at the London International Film Festival. Based on Rabindranath Tagore's 'Shesher Kobita', the passionate story revolves around three characters named Sikha, Labanya and Amit.

    Talking about her the film, Shomskuklla had previously said, "I felt the need to present Tagore to the new generation in a way they could identify with. Hence, I've kept the story and characters in sync with the times."

    Uditvanu Das plays the lead role in the film. "Uditvanu Das was not new to acting as he was part of my theatre group Kali Theatre for the last seven years and played the lead in my plays," she said, adding, "He competed with international actors worldwide and won. Thus, it speaks volumes about his capability as an actor. Also, the film has made its mark internationally." 

    Interestingly, Shomskuklla’s debut film Sandcastle also received global appreciation. It had won the Best Cinematography award at the Tenerife International Film Festival in London.
