Here's Why Ajay Devgn Has Trimmed Shivaay By 8 Minutes

The actor turned director has decided to trim the movie after the release of the movie.

Despite reviews less than stellar reviews, Ajay Devgn's passion project Shivaay has done commendable business in the domestic market. Though, the movie has failed to beat Karan Johar's Ae Dil Hai Mushkil, which has received better reviews and earned more at the BO.

And maybe propelled by that Ajay Devgn has decide to take some substantial measures. 

The actor turned actor has decided to chop the movie by 8 minutes. According to reports, the cut was supposed to be 11-12 minutes long but it was everntually decided by the filmmakers to be only 8 minutes.

The reasons for such an uncommon move are multifold. For one thing, there has been complaints (especially in the film's reviews) that the movie is stretched. With a running time of 2 hours 52 minutes, it has been pointed out that the movie at times seems dull and overlong.

Also, it has been reported that the movie has been trimmed to fit in more shows in the theatres's schedule. This was summed up by the actor's spokesperson:  "As we have got a tremendous response from theatres across India, the distributors reached out to us and requested us to adjust the length to better suit the timings, which could lead to more number of shows. The film has been made more pacey, and all theaters will play the abridged version from today."
