Alia Bhatt’s ‘Yes’ to Udta Punjab was a ‘No’ to Rock on 2

Alia Bhatt’s ‘Yes’ to Udta Punjab was a ‘No’ to Rock on 2

For all those who thought Alia Bhatt was zeroed in for Rock On sequel may now want to stand corrected. The recent shape ups have revealed that the Highway actress has only given her nod to Abhishek Chaubey’s Udta Punjab while Rock On 2 has been given a pass. Out of all the reasons one could find, sources say, she didn’t want to do a multi starrer over a challenging film.

Rock On 2 is an ensemble cast and the girl's part is that of the band member who replaces Luke Kenny whose character died in Rock On. If you see her roles so far, Alia has done only solo-heroine films. This is not to say she won't work in films with an ensemble cast. But if she's offered something as challenging as Udta Punjab which tests her abilities further and where she's the female lead opposite Shahid, then why not this?," a source close to Alia revealed. The actress will be repeating her on screen chemistry with Shahid Kapoor who she is working with in Vikas Bahl’s Shaandar. When Alia was quizzed about the entire deal, the actress firmly admitted signing Udta Punjab dodging any query over Rock On 2. She was also upbeat about working with Shahid again.
