Amit Sahni Ki List - A Must Skip

Had a bad day? Tired from a long day at work? Feel lost and low? Do you know what the perfect thing to do is? Skip Amit Sahni Ki List! Not that you would need any convincing for it, yet here are some reasons why the movie amounts to my definite-skip list!

Getting hitched – The only priority in life!

Amit Sahni ki List is a story about a guy who has made it big - the cash, the condo, the perfect job – he has it all! He dresses in a suit all the time, drinks coffee, goes to meetings – basically does everything that a ‘successful’ guy would. But he lacks something! Do you know what? The chikas! Now you would think that if a man has made it that big and looks averagely decent, getting the right girl would be the least of his worries right? But this is the prime worry of Amit and his pseudo-cool mom!

Breakup Diaries

Amit has a list of things he seeks in his ideal girl. The things on his list are mind numbingly dumb. Therefore, while dating a few girls in the quest for finding the one, he dumps most of them for reasons that will make you go like – WHAT?!

Mala - High on life

Since his love life is D.O.A (all thanks to him and his list), his mom fixes him up with a girl – Mala. Mala is high on life. And how do I know that? Because – hello! - to be high on life, you need to have an exotic career like being a tea taster and then you need to change it to another one – like teaching people how to breed honey bees! Also, you need to have a zest for adventure sports like Bungee jumping. This is the basic parameter of being cool developed by Bollywood over the years!  If I made a list of all the things that drowned this movie, Mala would’ve been my first pick.

Hey girl, you’re on my list!

Finally, Amit Sahni finds a perfect girl and falls for her. The new girl is super perfect, super smart and super sexy. He becomes stressed upon getting attracted to her, because by this time he is already engaged to Mala despite her caffeine rushes that get her all high. So, at this point, we expected a scene like:

The Final Word

If you hate your sibling for having that last bite of pizza, and you want to get back at them, send them to Amit Sahni Ki List.  Out of 5 stars, I would give this movie .5. Being a big fan of Vir Das, this movie has given me a heart ache. The funniest bits of the movie have been shown in the trailer itself, so feel free to skip this movie this weekend.
