Megastar Chiranjeevi’s upcoming Telugu historic drama Uyyalawada Narasimha Reddy, based on the life of the popular freedom fighter, was officially launched on Wednesday in Hyderabad. The film’s title logo and motion poster will be unveiled on August 22 on the occasion Chiranjeevi’s birthday. The project is being bankrolled by Ram Charan on a whopping budget and we had already informed that Amitabh Bachchan may play a pivotal role in the film. A reliable source from the film’s team has confirmed that Big B is officially on board but refused to spill more beans about his role.

While rumours suggest that he could be playing a cameo, the source confirmed he will be seen in a crucial role. Nayanthara has been finalised to be play the leading lady and this will be the first time she teams up with Chiranjeevi, who made a terrific comeback earlier this year with Khaidi No 150. There were also rumours that Tamil actor Vijay Sethupathi is also part of the cast. However, the source quashed it as a rumour and added that he was never even approached in the first place. Kannada actor Sudeep is being considered for an important role but he is yet to be officially signed. The film will be directed by Surender Reddy.

Chiranjeevi for long has desired to play a historic character. On his show Meelo Evaru Koteeswarudu, he had admitted to have regretted missing out an opportunity to play legendary Bhagat Singh. “It has always been my dream to play Bhagat Singh. Despite being offered the role back then, I couldn’t play it for several reasons and it was later played by several of my counterparts. It was played by several actors across languages. I regret missing out on an opportunity to play the role because I don’t think anyone wants to make a film on him today,” Chiranjeevi had said.
