Approach me with a script like ‘Mad Men’ and I’ll say yes to TV, says Vidya Balan

Volcano of talent Vidya Balan who kicked off her acting career through TV serial Hum Paanch, believes that the Indian TV doesn’t carry the kind of quality that may attract her to say yes. According to the actress, the writing is duly substandard and she doesn’t see herself getting back again.

The makers of many TV shows have approached me, and I have been rejecting them. The content on TV is very unexciting for me at this point. The concepts of the fiction shows are poor and repetitive. I am not interested in television anymore. I believe fiction shows on TV should be more meaningful, she said. The actress added that the quality of international TV shows is much finer and Indian television should look to get that kind of stuff. "When the writing gets to a level of Mad Men or Six Feet Under, then I will be more than happy to do television shows. I don’t want to be part of just another reality or fiction show that does not interest me,” she added. Well all we can say that her aspiration comes in as way too much looking at the kind of shows the Indian audience deals with.
