There is no denying that Sonakshi Sinha, who was launched with Salman Khan’s ‘Dabangg’ in 2010, is actually one of the most fearless actresses in Bollywood. The Rowdy Rathore star has indeed got praiseworthy acting skills and it is probably for this reason, the director of her upcoming movie ‘Akira’ is heaping words of admiration on her. Recently, A.R. Murugadoss talked about the female lead of his action drama and said that she fought like a man in the movie.

In an interview with IANS, Murugadoss stated, “I've so far only worked with male stars in the lead, but the experience of directing a heroine (Sonakshi) in the titular role, in an action-based script, was very different. It's something I'll cherish for a long time”. The director went on to add, “She started training for the role seven to eight months before we went on the floors with the film, and she had completely detached herself from other projects, enabling to channel all her energy into 'Akira'. She learnt martial arts, cut her hair short, and transformed herself from head to toe”.

"When most heroines are busy decking up, hopping from one set to the other, singing duets with different heroes, Sonakshi was learning to fight like a man. When she was performing stunts, I asked her to imagine herself as a man, to shrug like a man, to punch like a man, and to stare like a man. The way she transformed into Akira amazed me”, Murugadoss added. Sonakshi also got injured while shooting an action scene for the movie.

‘Akira’ is the remake of Tamil film ‘Mouna Guru’ (2011) and is scheduled for release on September 2. We just can’t wait to see Sonakshi’s action-packed avatar.
